About the Green Asia International Strategic Comprehensive Special Zone
A joint initiative between Fukuoka Prefecture, Kitakyushu City and Fukuoka City that makes use of special measures for rules for the Special Synthesis Area system. This Japanese-led initiative was established in order to package industry and technology related to urban environment infrastructures – a field that Japan has cultivated in its capacity as a country that is already well-equipped to deal with global environmental issues – and provide these to cities in Asia. It aims to further promote new creations in green innovation, incorporate the vitality of Asia's economic growth, deploy these from Asia to the rest of the world and promote mutual growth in Asia.

- Kitakyushu Asian Center for Low Carbon Society (Developmental Support for Environmental Businesses in Asia)
- Development of Overseas Water Business through Collaboration between Public and Private Sectors
- Projects to Create Smart Communities
- Construction of Hubs for the Development and Production of Products with Sophisticated Eco-friendly Functions and High cost Performance
- Creation of Hubs for Green Innovation Research
- Creation of Next Generation Hubs relating to the Recycling of Resources etc.
- Creation of East Asia High Speed Maritime Green Logistics Network and Hubs
- Developmental Support for SMEs in Asia
